Account holders of State Bank of India will soon be able to get mobile-based, personalized information on the farm sector developments at a nominal cost.
The information, to be delivered in SMS form in nine languages, will include updates on weather, input prices, crop diseases, government schemes/initiatives and market prices of produce. SBI has signed up a memorandum of understanding with RML information Services, provider of Reuters Market Light, under which its customers can avail such updates against a nominal subscription fees.
This service would be particularly very useful in this year considering the erratic monsoon and fluctuation in prices of agricultural commodities.
